About Claus Siebenhaar
Like many people, I started taking photos when I was young using the early Kodak Brownie, various Kodak Instamatics and the infamous Kodak Disc camera. I have many albums with snapshots in them and once in awhile a real life honest to goodness photo that I was proud of. In 2011, I suffered a head injury that, besides nasty headaches, gave me a severe case of amnesia. All my memories of family, friends and events has been wiped clean and I had to start with a clean slate. Fortunately, I had all those albums that I could refer back to in order to at least create a lattice work of pseudo memories. My therapists and I also decided that Photography would be excellent therapy to deal with the depression and PTSD. Thanks to my very loving and incredibly patient and supportive wife Rose, I began my career in photography by studying and learning as much as I can from any source that I come across. Since then, I have had the honor and pleasure to exhibit my photos at such diverse locations as the Akron Public Library, FOCUS in Solon and at the Beck Center for the Arts, The Wilderness Center, and the Canal Fulton Glass and Art Gallery. My photos have also been used to promote the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. I have even been a finalist in the International Pollux Awards. And yes, I do enjoy the macabre! That picture of me isn't the result of the accident just me getting ready to go on a zombie walk.
